Matt Francis is an award-winning director/producer/performer , being recognized for creative excellence in both stage and film. During the last decade he's built two thriving video and film production companies. Highly knowledgeable, with extensive experience from pre-production to post-production, his specialty is working with actors to get them to become better communicators to their audience weather it is on stage or in Film.

Recently Matt lost his older brother Jason to cancer. Jason too was an amazing actor and director with a passion for teaching. It is his legacy that Matt is holding high by beginning this studio. His dream was to to this together with his brother.

A native North Carolinian, Matt grew up in Sanford, NC, just south of Raleigh. After graduating with a degree in theatre from Catawba College, he toured the country with a theatre company out of Montana. He then accepted a position in Southern Pines, NC, heading a theatre program of over 160 students, at Pinecrest High School. During those 3 years he brought his students to North Carolina Theater Conference competitions where they won awards for their work, and he won the “Best Director in North Carolina.”

Bringing a high level of creativity to The Acting Project, his energy is reflected in his work and in his leisure time---he's a runner with several marathons under his belt, a scuba diver, a player of Flag Football, and is a loyal sports fan---especially of the Carolina Panthers! Matt has a beautiful family with a beautiful wife, two boys and a girl. They are the true source of his inspiration.
